Newland Archer is a rich men that live in one of New York City`s best families. He want to marry with May Welland but when Ellen Olenska arrived to New York City everything change for him because he hesitation about his wendding.
May`s cousin countess Ellen Olenska has returned to New York after scandalous separating from a bad marrige to a Polish count. She decide divorce Count Olenski but her family was disagree because they had afraid of controvercy and embarrassment.
Newland said to Ellen that he love her but Ellen was married and his love is impossible. Finally he decide marry with May and they made a family. When Ellen Knowns that her cousin May was pregmant she decide come back to Europe.
